Unique Stays: Getting Artsy at the Park Hotel Tokyo

Park Hotel Tokyo

When it comes to accommodation, I LOVE finding places that are quirky or memorable in some way. It could be a 5-star hotel or it could be a cheap backpacker hostel- to me, the important part is finding places that are unique. Yet when it comes to inner city hotels, I always find it a struggle to find places that aren’t super generic. Hence, when I started researching into a place to stay in Tokyo, I was pretty excited to stumble upon the Park Hotel Tokyo

Park Hotel Tokyo

Firstly, the Park Hotel has been built on the top floors of another building. This means after catching an elevator up 26 floors, you arrive in the lobby, where you greeted with the most incredible city views to gape at as you check in. The lobby area is surrounded by three different restaurants and a bar, and the space is filled with incredible artworks (which I later found out was a part of a monthly art exhibition the hotel puts on for guests to enjoy.)

As for the accommodation, the Park Hotel Tokyo offers a very unique hotel room experience. As well as offering regular rooms, the hotel has begun what they call the ‘Artist Floor’. This is a floor of the hotel which now consists of 24 rooms, each that have been customized by a different local artist to reflect elements of Japanese culture. Each Artist Room is completely unique in style, layout and ambiance, making the Artist Floor feel like a private art gallery.  The whole concept helps connect guests to local Japanese art and culture in a truly immersive way. As you can see below, these spaces really are a far cry from your average inner-city hotel room!

I was lucky enough to get to stay in the Cherry Blossom Room by the artist Hiroko Otake, which consisted of the most magnificent Cherry Blossom mural above the bed and little gold-leaf butterflies painted all over the walls. Pull back the blinds and the room has a massive window perfectly framing the Tokyo tower, a view which became even more magical at dusk. Unsurprisingly, this is one of the Park Hotel’s most popular rooms (and easily my favorite hotel room I’ve ever stayed in)!

LOCATION:

The Park Hotel is located in the business center of Shiodome and is a short 5 minute walk from the metro station. The hotel is located right next to Ginza, which is full of great restaurants, cafes and bars, and is also a short walking distance from the famous Tsukiji Fish Markets (which is an absolute must-see in Tokyo).  The area is a little further away from the hustle and bustle of places like Shinjuku and Shibuya, so keep this in mind if you do enjoy staying in the center of all the action. Having said this, the great thing about Tokyo is you can get everywhere very quickly and easily by metro, no matter where you are staying.

Rooms at the Park Hotel Tokyo start at $207 a night. Book here.
